Adventure Camp in Pune with Cygnus World School

There’s something incredibly special about the first day of an outdoor adventure camp in Pune. It’s a mix of excitement, nervous energy, and the anticipation of everything that’s about to unfold. This time, we had the pleasure of hosting students from Cygnus World School, Baroda, for a four-day outdoor adventure camp in Pune. And from the moment we met them, we knew it was going to be a memorable few days.

Day 1: New Faces, Big Smiles & Our First Adventure Together
Our day began at the railway station, where we went to receive the students. Even before they stepped off the platform, you could sense the excitement in the air. The kids were full of energy, waving enthusiastically, chatting non-stop, and eager to know what the next four days at the adventure camp in Pune had in store for them. Honestly, their enthusiasm was infectious. We were just as excited to welcome them.
After arriving at the adventure camp in Pune, we quickly got everyone settled in. The students were assigned separate dormitories, but only to keep their luggage safely. Their real accommodation for the next three nights would be the tents. A completely new experience for many of them.
By noon, everyone was ready for the orientation session. We gathered together for a quick briefing about the adventure camp, introduced ourselves, spoke about safety, and gave them a glimpse of the adventures that lay ahead. Breakfast followed soon after, and it didn’t take long for the kids to recharge and get ready for their very first activity.
We kicked things off with Virtual Volleyball, a fun icebreaker that had everyone laughing within minutes. Divided into teams, the students had to call out each other’s names and pass an imaginary ball with speed and coordination. What looked like a simple game quickly turned into a lesson in teamwork, communication, and paying attention. Watching complete strangers cheer each other on was a great reminder of how quickly outdoor experiences bring people together.
After the game, we slowed things down with a walk around the campsite. This wasn’t just a casual stroll, it was our chance to help the students get familiar with their new home for the next few days. We explained the camp rules, pointed out important areas, spoke about respecting nature, and answered the endless stream of curious questions that only children can come up with. By then, everyone had worked up quite an appetite, so we headed for lunch. One thing we never have to worry about at our adventure camp in Pune is the food. It’s always fresh, hygienic, and delicious, and once again it didn’t disappoint. Plates were cleaned in no time, and the conversations around the dining area were already filled with stories about the morning’s games.
The afternoon was all about stepping out of comfort zones. The students got to experience activities like Walk the Plank, High Rope Walk, and several other adventure challenges. Some kids rushed in fearlessly while others took a little more encouragement before attempting their first obstacle. But that was the beauty of it. Every small victory, every hesitant first step, and every cheer from teammates made the experience even more rewarding. Watching confidence grow, one activity at a time, is one of the most fulfilling parts of running this adventure camp in Pune.
As evening approached, everyone gathered for some well-earned snacks before heading to one of the most anticipated parts of the day, the camping area. We introduced the students to the basics of tent pitching, teaching them how to work together to build their temporary home. For many, it was their first time setting up a tent, and there was plenty of excitement (and a few funny attempts) along the way.
Once the tents were ready, we settled down for story time under the open sky. There’s something magical about sitting outdoors, surrounded by nature, listening to stories as darkness slowly takes over. It brought a calm end to an action-packed day.
After dinner, we lit a small bonfire where everyone gathered one last time before calling it a night. The same children who had arrived bursting with energy in the morning were now exhausted in the best possible way. One by one, they crawled into their tents, and before long, the campsite fell silent.
Day one had everything we could have hoped for, new friendships, laughter, adventure, learning, and plenty of unforgettable moments. And as we looked around the quiet campsite that night, we couldn’t help but smile, knowing that this was only the beginning of an incredible four-day journey.

Day 2: Learning to Survive, One Adventure at a Time
After an action-packed first day, I wasn’t sure if the kids would be ready for another round of activities so early the next morning. But at sharp 7:00 AM, our wake-up call echoed through the campsite, and within minutes, everyone was out of their tents with sleepy smiles and endless excitement. A few light snacks helped shake off the last bit of sleep before we began the day.
To ease everyone into the morning, we started with a refreshing nature walk around the adventure camp. But this wasn’t just about soaking in the beauty of nature but we paired it with a clean-up drive. It was wonderful to see the students enthusiastically picking up litter and learning that caring for the outdoors is just as important as enjoying it. Small actions like these go a long way in building responsible adventurers.
After the walk, breakfast was exactly what everyone needed. With full stomachs and renewed energy, we gathered for our first learning session of the day. A First Aid Workshop. We spoke about how simple first-aid skills can make a huge difference during emergencies, especially while exploring the outdoors. The students were surprisingly curious, asking thoughtful questions and eagerly volunteering during demonstrations. It was great to see them realize that adventure also comes with responsibility.
Back at the campsite, we introduced the theme for the day that was Outdoor Survival. You could instantly feel the excitement in the air. The students knew they were in for something different.
By 11:00 AM, it was time for the main challenge.
The objective was simple: survive using only the resources available around you. Of course, it wasn’t going to be handed to them that easily. Each team first had to solve a Morse code puzzle, which revealed the map coordinates of hidden resources scattered around the campsite. The hunt was officially on!
Watching the teams race across the campsite, decoding clues and searching for hidden supplies, was easily one of my favourite moments of the day at the adventure camp. They searched for bamboo poles, tarpaulins, cooking utensils, water, food supplies, ropes, and everything else they would need to build a functional survival setup. Every discovery was celebrated with loud cheers, and every clue solved brought another burst of excitement.
Once all the resources had been collected, we gathered everyone together for an important safety briefing before the next challenge that was cooking. Using the equipment they had collected, each team prepared their own khichdi over the camp setup. Some teams were surprisingly organised, while others learnt through a bit of trial and error, but in the end, every pot of khichdi tasted delicious. There was something incredibly satisfying about watching the students enjoy a meal they had worked together to prepare.
Of course, we also served everyone a proper lunch afterwards, ensuring every camper was well-fed before the afternoon activities. After such an adventurous morning, a little downtime was well deserved.
By around 3:00 PM, it was time to get moving again with an exciting obstacle course. The activities challenged the students physically while encouraging teamwork, communication, and determination. Every obstacle crossed was met with cheers from teammates, and even those who were initially hesitant found the confidence to push themselves a little further.
After the obstacle course, everyone enjoyed some well-earned snacks and freshened up before the evening session.
As night fell, we conducted a backpacking tutorial, teaching the students how to pack efficiently for outdoor adventures. From balancing weight correctly to carrying only the essentials, they learnt practical skills that every trekker should know.
But there was no way we were ending Survival Day without one final challenge.
Under the cover of darkness, we organised a Night Survival Search Operation. The mission was to locate a blinking light somewhere around the campsite using teamwork, observation, and a little courage. The excitement was contagious. Even the teachers couldn’t resist joining in, and before long, everyone was laughing, searching, and cheering each other on. It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable activities of the entire adventure camp.
After the adventure finally came to an end, everyone gathered for a comforting dinner. Compared to the excitement of the day, the campsite felt surprisingly peaceful. The students were tired, happy, and already talking about what Day 3 might bring. As the lights went out and the tents grew quiet once again, I couldn’t help but feel proud of how much they had learnt in just one day. They hadn’t just completed activities—they had discovered the importance of teamwork, resilience, and making the most of whatever resources are around you.
And with two incredible days behind us, the adventure was only getting better.

Day 3: Mountains, Rain & A Little Creativity
After two packed days of adventure, we decided to keep Day 3 of the adventure camp a little lighter. The idea was to let the kids enjoy the outdoors during a short day hike around Pune, experience something new, and have enough time to simply relax and have fun together.
The day started at 7:00 AM with our wake-up call, followed by a nice, heavy breakfast. We knew what was coming next, so everyone needed the energy.
By 8:30 AM, we were already on the bus, heading towards the nearby mountains for the Katraj-Bopdev Trek. The bus ride itself was full of chatter, laughter, and excitement. Once we reached the trail, the real fun began.
The climb was a great experience for the kids. It wasn’t an extremely demanding hike, but it was enough to get everyone moving, working together, and enjoying the outdoors. Some walked ahead, some took their time, and there was plenty of encouragement along the way. Reaching the top felt like a small achievement for everyone.
And, of course, we had packed lunch with us. Sitting together on the mountain and eating after the climb was probably one of those simple moments that everyone will remember. Food somehow tastes better after you’ve earned it!
The descent was a little quieter. By the time we reached the bus, the kids were tired and ready to rest. We put on some music during the ride back, and the bus quickly turned into a moving music room. Some were singing along, some were simply enjoying the ride, and others were already halfway asleep.
Once we reached Hidden Oasis, we had some much-needed nimbu paani and snacks waiting for everyone. But before anyone could settle down for too long, we had another surprise planned-a rain dance!
The moment the music started and the water came on, all the tiredness seemed to disappear. The kids absolutely loved it. Everyone was dancing, laughing, getting completely drenched, and enjoying themselves without a care in the world. It was one of those moments where you just step back and watch the kids be kids.
After the rain dance, everyone headed for a shower and changed into fresh clothes. We then gave them some downtime to relax. Since this was their last day at the campsite, we wanted them to have some time to slow down and enjoy being at the adventure camp in Pune. They also had lunch and got some much-needed rest.
Once everyone was refreshed, we got back together for our next activity – Ropes and Knots.
This was a more hands-on learning session where we introduced the students to different types of knots and explained where they are used in outdoor activities such as climbing and rappelling. The kids listened surprisingly patiently as we demonstrated each knot. But the real fun began when we asked them to try it themselves. Watching them struggle with the ropes initially and then finally get the knots right was quite satisfying.
From ropes, we moved on to something completely different – Frame Making.
The challenge was simple: create your own photo frame using things found around the campsite. There was just one important rule – nothing was to be plucked or damaged from nature. We wanted the students to understand that creativity doesn’t have to come at the cost of the environment.
We also gave each group their photographs from the camp, and suddenly everyone had a very personal project to work on. The kids got incredibly passionate about their frames. They were collecting fallen leaves, twigs, and other natural materials, discussing ideas with their teammates, and carefully putting their frames together.
It was lovely to see how differently every group approached the same activity. There wasn’t a single “right” way to make a frame, and that allowed their creativity to really come through.
After finishing their frames, we gave the students some free time to themselves. After three days of activities, adventures, hikes, and challenges, they deserved it.
The day eventually came to a delicious end with dinner. But we weren’t quite ready to call it a night.
For our final activity of the evening, we set up a Movie Night, complete with everyone’s favourite movie-theatre companion – butter popcorn.
The campsite, which had been buzzing with activity throughout the day, became quiet as everyone settled in to watch the movie. Kids sat together, shared popcorn, laughed at the funny moments, and simply enjoyed being together.
As I looked around, I realised how different the atmosphere was from the first day. On Day 1, they had arrived as a group of students meeting us for the first time. By Day 3, they had become a team—comfortable with each other, comfortable with us, and full of shared memories.
And that made the thought of tomorrow being their last day at Hidden Oasis feel a little bittersweet.
Day 4: The Last Morning & A Goodbye We Weren’t Ready For
The final morning at the adventure camp in Pune arrived sooner than we would have liked.
After three days filled with adventure, laughter, challenges, and new experiences, we decided to give the kids a little extra time to sleep. But eventually, at 7:00 AM, it was time to wake everyone up. Breakfast was served, and there was a slightly different feeling around the campsite. The usual excitement was still there, but this time, everyone knew it was our last morning together.
After breakfast, we organised a prize distribution ceremony to recognise the students for their efforts and participation throughout the camp. It was wonderful to see the excitement on their faces as they received their prizes. It was a small gesture, but it brought a lot of smiles.
But before leaving, there was one last responsibility.
We gathered everyone together for a quick clean-up drive around the campsite. The students went around collecting any waste and making sure that the place was as clean as we had found it. It felt like a fitting way to end the adventure camp. After spending four days learning about the outdoors, adventure, and survival, we wanted them to leave with one final reminder—we enjoy nature, but we also take care of it.
By around 11:00 AM, it was finally time to leave Hidden Oasis.
We loaded the bags, said our goodbyes to the campsite, and started our drive towards the railway station. The bus ride felt very different from the one four days ago. Back then, everyone was meeting for the first time and bursting with questions about what lay ahead. Now, the bus was filled with stories, inside jokes, photographs, camp memories, and friendships that hadn’t existed just a few days earlier.
As we reached the station, the reality finally sank in—it was time to say goodbye.
Around 3:00 PM, the students left for home.
We stood there watching them leave, and I couldn’t help but think about how much can happen in just four days. They arrived as a group of students from Baroda, excited about an outdoor camp. They left having climbed a mountain, learnt first aid, built shelters, cooked khichdi, crossed obstacles, learnt ropes and knots, explored the outdoors, danced in the rain, created memories together, and perhaps most importantly, learnt to rely on one another.
For us, the adventure camp may have ended when the bus pulled away from the station. But for the kids, we hope the experience stays with them for much longer.
Four days. Countless memories. A whole lot of laughter.
And one adventure we won’t forget anytime soon.
