Goecha La – Sikkim’s Paradise
The Goecha La trek is a journey through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Himalayas.
From lush rhododendron forests to sweeping meadows, every step offers more of nature’s beauty.
This photo blog is an attempt to visually showcase my experience on this beautiful trail, from the bright green trails of Yuksom to the dramatic sunrise views of Kanchenjunga.
Early Days – Into the Jungles of Kanchenjunga National Park
One of the many beautiful Magnolia trees we saw on our way from Sachen to Tshoka.
The Prek Chu River along which we descended on our way from Sachen to Tshoka.
A pristine lake near the Tshoka campsite reflecting the clouds and nearby mountains!
A picturesque evening amidst the hills surrounding Tshoka.
Meadows and Mist – The Tranquil Trails to Dzongri
The winter wonderland of Dzongri – dusted with a fresh layer of snow at our campsite.
An absolutely astonishing gradient seen from the Dzongri campsite and the vantage point 10 minutes ahead.
One of the most gorgeous sunrises I’ve experienced. A dash of golden on a cloudy day at Dzongri Top.
Shifting Hues – the serene blue tint we witnessed from Dzongri Top as the background of surreal snow-covered mountains.
A blooming pink rhododendron flower we saw on the way to Dzongri!
Kanchenjunga’s Embrace – From the Meadows of Lamuney to Goecha La Viewpoint
Glimpses of Mount Pandim as seen from our Lamuney campsite when the sky opened up!
Starry nights at Lamuney. A phone camera’s attempt at capturing the true beauty of a resplendent Himalayan night.
Tea at the Goechala Viewpoint – enjoying the magnificent view and a couple of biscuits!
Kanchenjunga in all its glory – The entire mountain range at sunrise!
One of my favourite vistas from the trail – A cloudy masterpiece on our way back from the Goechala summit.
The surreal Samiti Lake – Crystal clear with a few clouds overhead.
Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586m), the 3rd highest mountain in the world, viewed on a clear day from Lamuney.
Wildflowers near Tshoka – breaking through a sea of misty white on the trail.
Bright blue skies at Tshoka on our way down from Goecha La.
