The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the most underrated treks in Nepal. This 4000+ meter trek spans over 4 to 5 days and takes trekkers deep into the Annapurna region. Mardi Himal is one of those treks in Nepal that offers incredible views of some of the biggest mountains. Trekkers get a chance to witness spectacular views of Annapurna I, the 10th highest mountain in the world. Alongside Mt Annapurna some of the most notable peaks in the region, including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) are also prominently visible through most of the trail.
Kathmandu
The city of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is an experience in itself. For the Mardi Himal Trek, like all other treks in Nepal, Kathmandu is the very first stop. We highly recommend spending at least one night here. Kathmandu has a lot to offer. From religious spots like Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa to sunrise hiking options at Swayambhunath, this place is the vibe!
The Thamel district in Kathmandu is quite popular among the trekking and mountaineering community. This place is literally everything an adventurer dreams of. From international brands like The North Face and Columbia to local homegrown brands like Sonam and Outdoor Compass, Thamel has got it all! The Thamel market is an absolute treat if you’re looking to shop for your adventure. From gloves and woolen socks to keep you warm to 8K expedition down suits that literally save your life, everything is sold in this one market.
Not only that, Thamel has a different party vibe going on, too. Multiple clubs, bars, and eateries are all lined up next to each other! Where do you go after a successful trek or summit? Thamel it is!

Pokhara
The city of Pokhara is among the most loved cities in Nepal. Honestly, we don’t doubt this for a second. Pokhara is the gateway to the Mardi Himal Trek. A short, scenic 25-minute flight from Kathmandu brings you to the city.
The airport itself is among the most beautiful airports we have ever seen! As you step off the plane, you may even catch glimpses of the stunning Annapurna range around you. It’s as though the mountains are already welcoming you to your adventure!
Pokhara is a city-city! It has everything you can think of. From hostels and hotels to even five-star properties, the city has accommodation options for everyone. You’ll find areas where traffic gets congested during peak hours. You’ll also find eateries, restaurants, and clubs all around. Despite all of this, Pokhara is a city that makes you feel close to the mountains. Pokhara has plenty of places that are genuinely worth visiting. From beautiful lakes like Phewa and Begnas to sunrise hikes at Sarangkot, there’s a lot to explore. The city also caters to those looking for a spiritual experience. Trekkers can visit the Shiva idol at Pumdikot, Gupteshwar Mahadev Cave, and the Peace Pagoda, among other places.
Alongside sightseeing, trekkers can enjoy boating on Phewa and Begnas lakes. Paragliding is another popular tourist activity that many visitors indulge in. To sum it up, if you’re planning the Mardi Himal Trek, we highly recommend spending at least one or two days in Pokhara.

Duerali
Pitam Deurali is a beautiful stop on the way to Mardi Himal Base Camp and usually the very first place trekkers take an overnight halt. The trail winds through lush forests, charming villages, and stone steps, offering glimpses of the surrounding hills and mountains. Surrounded by greenery and fresh mountain air, Pitam Deurali also has the best accommodation options.

Low Camp
Low Camp is yet another scenic stop on the Mardi Himal Trek, surrounded by dense forests and the towering peaks of the Annapurna region. As you gain altitude from Forest Camp, the trail gradually opens up to reveal beautiful mountain views. Low Camp marks the beginning of the transition from forested trails to more open alpine landscapes, with glimpses of the majestic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) rising above the ridgeline. It is a wonderful place to rest and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the Himalayas before continuing towards High Camp.

High Camp
This one is probably the most spectacular stops on the Mardi Himal Trek, where the landscape transforms from dense forests into open alpine terrain. Perched along a mountain ridge, it offers breathtaking views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The air feels cooler and thinner here, reminding you that you are venturing into higher altitudes. High Camp is also the starting point for the early-morning hike to Mardi Himal view point, where even more magnificent mountain panoramas await.

View Point
The Mardi Himal Viewpoint, sits approximately at 4,200 metres, offers some of the most breathtaking views of the entire trek. The trail climbs along a narrow ridgeline, with dramatic mountain scenery unfolding at every turn. From here, you can admire the towering face of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), along with Annapurna South and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Standing at this viewpoint, surrounded by rugged mountains and vast alpine landscapes, is a truly memorable highlight of the Mardi Himal Trek.
