The Binsar Zero Point Trek is not a difficult trek and but does require a certain level of fitness. The trek itself is for two days and involves some altitude gain. The trek is perfect for young kids and beginners. Most people would be able to complete the trek; however, we would recommend the basic fitness plan below:
We recommend the following schedule to the participants

  1. WEEK 1: You can spend the first week by starting to walk for a short distance, close to 2 km should be alright. For children, the same distance with a light backpack containing an empty bottle and tiffin should help their shoulders adjust to the weight while trekking. If you have access to a swimming pool, swimming for 20 minutes a day will go a long way in building cardiovascular endurance.
  2. WEEK 2: Being consistent with your exercise during week 1, increase your distance to 2.5 km and 3 times a week. Again, for children the addition of climbing stairs or walking up and down a slope can help accustom them to walking uphill. You can also increase the weight in the backpack by adding a small book as well.

Consistency is the key and the best way to encourage children is to create a game out of the workout. Since the trek is a family-friendly trek, you can ask the entire family to participate in the fitness regime. Please do get in touch with us and we’d be more than happy to develop a training program for you.
