This is a realtively short and crisp trail without too much to worry about. You do not need to carry much in your backpack apart from:
This beautiful trek can be attempted by everyone. From beginners in the outdoors to experienced trekkers the trail beginning from Ramdara can be accessed by all outdoor enthusiasts.
Ramdara Temple is located near Loni Kalbhor, about 20–25 km southeast of Pune, Maharashtra. It lies at the foothills of Dive Ghat, just off the Solapur Highway, and is surrounded by forests and a beautiful lake.
The trek is easy and suitable for beginners and families. It takes around 3–3.5 hours (round trip) to complete, covering a distance of about 6 km, with some light rock patches that can be bypassed safely.
The trek is enjoyable in all seasons except peak summer. Winters offer crisp air and clear views, while the monsoon months bring lush greenery. Avoid summer due to heat and lack of water on the trail.
From Pune, drive towards Hadapsar/Magarpatta and then take the Solapur Highway. After crossing the World Peace Dome (MIT College), take a right turn towards Ramdara Temple. Ample parking is available near the temple.
Key highlights include the scenic Shiva temple and lake, light rock scrambles, panoramic views of Pune and the Sahyadris, wild Karanda (Karonda) fruit shrubs, and the chance to spot wildlife like peacocks, monkeys, and Chinkaras.
The temple opens at 7 AM, so plan accordingly. There are no water sources on the trail, but you’ll find a few food stalls near the temple. Network coverage is decent, and some rock patches may be slippery in the monsoon, but safe bypass routes exist. There is a small parking fee you will need to pay in case travelling by personal vehicle.
